What is an agitator in a tank?

Mud tank agitator is a device specially used to stir the mud in the mud tank.

Its main function is to prevent the solid particles in the mud from settling, maintain the uniformity and stability of the mud, and ensure that the performance of the mud meets the construction or operation requirements.

Equipment structure

Mud tank agitators usually comprise motors, reducers, stirring shafts, and stirring blades. The motor drives the stirring shaft to rotate through the reducer, and the stirring blades stir the mud accordingly.

Working principle

Mud agitators are suitable for stirring oil drilling fluids. Mud agitators below 5.5kW all use cycloidal reducers, and drilling fluid mud agitators above 7.5kW use turbine worm reduction transmission. The impeller can make the stirring fluid produce vortex motion, thereby enhancing the stirring effect. The tray sandwiched between the blades can also prevent the solid phase particles of the mud from depositing around the lower blades after shutdown. This use can reduce the resistance torque of the sediment to the blades during startup, thereby avoiding starting overload and burning the motor.
