Precautions when using mud agitator

Mud agitators will encounter some problems when used in well sites. How do these problems usually get solved? What matters needing attention when using mud agitators? Today, the editor of Xi’an HL will briefly introduce them.

Precautions when using mud agitators:

1. Check whether the selection of the mud agitator is correct and whether the actual use conditions are consistent with the specified use conditions.

2. Hard steel pipes and metal hoses protect the cables of the agitator motor in the mud chamber to ensure the sealing of the pipe connection.

3. Use a 0-500V megohmmeter to check that the insulation resistance of the three-core wire of the motor main cable to the ground shall not be less than 5 megohms. Don’t use a megohmmeter to check the control cable, as it can damage the electrical components inside the submersible agitator. Instead, use a multimeter for this purpose.

4. If the power supply is far from the mud agitator’s use distance, consider increasing the cable’s cross-sectional area due to line loss. Keep the joints as few as possible, and seal them to prevent water leakage.

5. Connect the power cable, grounding cable, and control cable on the mud agitator to the terminal of the control cabinet (box) one by one.

6. The grounding wire of the mud agitator is a two-color wire (yellow/green). To ensure…, it must be firmly connected and 50mm longer than other wires.

7. There are 4 control cables for the agitator, 3 thin and 1 thick. Use a multimeter to measure the continuity. Among the three thin cables, two connect as temperature measurement signal wires. The unconnected one and the two-color cable serve as leakage signal wires.

8. Before installing the mud agitator, face the impeller direction and the impeller rotates counterclockwise. If the rotation direction is incorrect, you can exchange the positions of any two of the three-phase wires on the control cabinet or terminal box to change the rotation direction. If several mud agitators are connected to a control cabinet or terminal box, each mud agitator must be checked separately.

9. After closing the switch, the agitator won’t start immediately. The mud agitator should perform a self-check through the control system. If it detects a fault (a flash or alarm appears on the electric control cabinet), you should check and eliminate the fault before starting. If the motor doesn’t rotate, quickly and decisively pull the switch. You should check and eliminate the fault to avoid motor damage.

10. After starting the agitator, observe the motor and line voltage meter and ammeter. If you notice any abnormal phenomena, stop the machine immediately to find out the cause. You can close the switch and start it again after eliminating the fault.

11. Don’t start several mud agitators simultaneously. Instead, start and stop them one by one.

12.Never run mud agitators in empty tanks for extended periods.
