What is the function of poor boy degasser? Speaking of separators, those in the industry are likely familiar with them. A poor boy degasser is a specialized device for the primary degassing of gas-invaded drilling fluids, making it a highly effective mud gas separator. Today, HLPetroleum’s editors will explain the working principles of a poor boy degasser.
Gas-invaded drilling fluid enters the separator at a tangential angle through the separator’s inlet, flows along the inner wall, and falls onto a series of specially designed internal baffles. These impacts increase the exposed surface area, causing downward flow and creating turbulent flow, which separates the gas from the drilling fluid. The gas outlet at the tank’s top discharges free gas. A technician determines and configures the exhaust pipe’s length on-site, directing it to a safe location. The degasser then discharges the degassed drilling fluid into a circulation tank.
Installation of poor boy degasser
Typically, the dégazeur de pauvres is installed on the ground next to the mud tank. The ground must be level and solid, with pre-installed anchor bolt pits.
During installation, use a crane to lift the main body by the lifting lugs at the top, then slowly lower it to a vertical position. Then, evenly space wire ropes at three locations on the top of the main body to ensure it is vertical. Then, cast the anchor bolts and secure them.
After installation, run the exhaust pipeline to a point 60-80 meters from the wellhead (provide the pipeline yourself. If you require a factory-provided one, please specify when ordering). Connect the slurry inlet to the rotary blowout preventer or choke manifold, close the blowdown butterfly valve, open the slurry outlet butterfly valve, and connect the pipeline to the réservoir de boue.
For transport, remove the manifold, loosen the tensioning wire ropes, use a crane to lift the top of the main body, loosen the anchor bolts, and level it. The ladder can now be used as a transport support.
After the above introduction, I believe everyone is familiar with the poor boy degasser. In fact, using a poor boy degasser in conjunction with a système d'allumage flare can ensure smooth drilling operations.
