Components of a Mud Hopper System:

1. Hopper Funnel – Where dry additives are dumped.

3. Mixing Tank – The rig’s circulation system sends and circulates the newly mixed mud through the mud tanks and into the drilling system.

4. Centrifugal Pump – Provides the pressure needed for the jet action.

How the Process Works:

1. A pump pumps circulating mud at high velocity through the venturi jet.

2. A vacuum effect is created at the throat of the venturi.

3. Powdered or liquid additives are added into the funnel.

4. The venturi draws in the additives and mixes them with the mud stream.

5.The venturi hopper then discharges the blended fluid into the mixing tank or active system.
