Desander In Drilling Rig

1. Compact structure, small footprint, and flexible transportation;

2. Clamp-type connection for easy installation and removal;

3. Cyclone material is highly wear-resistant polyurethane, providing a longer service life;

4. One, two, or three 8″, 10″, or 12″ desander cyclones can be flexibly selected depending on the processing volume.

A desander in drilling rig is a secondary solids control device in the drilling fluid solids control system. It is a crucial device for stabilizing and regulating drilling fluid technical specifications. It is also known as a cyclone desander, mud desander, or drilling fluid desander.

Exploded view of desander

A cyclone desander is designed based on the principle of particle settling. A sand pump generates a certain pressure and velocity for the separated drilling fluid, which spirals into the cyclone’s inner wall. Coarser particles, driven by centrifugal force and gravity, spiral downward along the cyclone’s inner wall, exiting through the underflow outlet and falling onto a fine-mesh vibrating screen below for separation. The remaining fluid spirals upward through the cyclone and enters the tertiary separation device, a desilter, through the overflow outlet for further purification.

Desander in drilling rig are commonly used in oil drilling, trenchless pipelines, shield tunneling slurry balance, and river silt removal.
