Oil Rig Mud Tank

Oil rig mud tanks, or mixing and storage tanks, are essential components of a drilling rig’s solids control system. Their primary purpose is to prepare, store, and treat the drilling fluid, commonly known as “drilling mud.” This is crucial for maintaining efficient and safe drilling operations.  They are essential equipment for storing drilling mud in conjunction with mud processing equipment and mud circulation systems.

Oil rig mud tank circulation systems are categorized as either square or conical tanks based on the shape of the tank bottom. The tank body utilizes a flat-conical or corrugated structure, welded together with steel plates and sections.

As a mud carrier, the mud tank is an indispensable component of the mud circulation system. Its function is to carry mud from the wellhead to the mud pump.  The appropriate solids control equipment on the tank gradually separates the solid particles from the mud. The mud weighting and mixing system then blends the mud to meet drilling process requirements.

Using the corrugated sheet structure and features such as “five stages purification, control of total access, and a total Explosion-proof circuit,” the mud circulation tank is a product the drilling crew welcomes.

Oil rig mud tanks

The main features

1. With the corrugated sheet structure, the tank body has the advantage of high strength, elegant appearance, and reduce the weight of tank body.

2. Solids control equipment is rationally distributed to provide up to five stages of purification—including rough screening, degassing, desanding, desilting, and centrifugation—which optimizes the mud’s performance.

3. With the zinc-coated steel grating, the tank level is fine-looking, portable, corrosion-resistant, and so on.

4. The tank bodys are connected by pneumatic tyre unions and glass steel tubes, so they have the advantages of fine-looking, installation easily, reliable seel, and so on.

5. The tank body has a big capacity, usable capacity is up to 480m3.

6. The water supply is automatic control, and every tank or compartment can be supplied water at the same time.

7. Used ocean specialized paint for corrosion protection and well materials, the tank has high surface strength, and is fine-looking, wear well.
