Product Overview
The HL Petroleum Trenchless Mud Cleaning System is a complete solids control package built for contractors and drilling clients. It serves horizontal directional drilling (HDD), slurry shield (slurry balance) tunneling, large-diameter piling and diaphragm walls, river dredging, and geothermal well drilling. The system cleans the drilling fluid returning from the borehole through multiple stages and sends it back into the circulation system in usable condition, so you buy less mud, dispose of less waste, and lose less time on site.

Sound Familiar?
- High sand content makes mud properties unstable, raising the risk of stuck pipe and drill string burial
- Large volumes of waste mud mean costly haul-off and disposal, plus environmental inspection pressure
- Heavy consumption of mud materials squeezes project margins
- Tight job sites make mobilization, relocation and setup difficult
- Equipment downtime delays the schedule, and after-sales support is slow to respond
What You Gain
1. Better hole quality, fewer incidents
Multi-stage desanding makes mud density and sand content easier to control, reducing stuck-pipe events and improving hole quality.
2. Faster drilling, shorter schedules
Cuttings and sand are removed promptly, keeping the mud clean and drilling smooth, with fewer stoppages caused by mud problems.
3. Reusable mud, direct savings
Purified mud goes straight back into service, cutting consumption of mud materials and make-up volume, and lowering mud cost per meter drilled.
4. Closed-loop circulation, easier environmental compliance
The mud circulates in a closed loop and the discharged solids have low moisture content, reducing waste mud volume and haul-off to help your project meet environmental requirements.

How It Works
- Pump and recover: A slurry pump moves the returning waste mud from the borehole to the purification system.
- Two-stage shaker screening (coarse and fine): Shale shakers remove large cuttings first, then finer particles.
- Hydrocyclone desanding: Hydrocyclones separate fine sand and further clean the mud.
- Circulation tank: The purified mud flows into the circulation tank and returns to the drilling system for reuse.
Optional desilters, decanter centrifuges and chemical dosing units are available for higher purification accuracy.
