Solids Control Equipment Mud Agitator

Solids Control Equipment Mud Agitator includes an explosion-proof “C” profile motor, reduction gearbox (helical bevel gears for horizontal agitators or all helical gears for vertical units), impeller, and shaft with assembled bushing. Motors range from 5.5kw to 22kw and are available in a variety of power configurations.

Connection method of motor and reducer

Directly connecting the motor to the gearbox protects proper alignment, which extends bearing life, and provides 95% power transmission efficiency to the impeller. Using this superior design is 30% higher than the standard worm drive gear assembly, allowing the agitator to do the same job with less horsepower. By combining the motor and gearbox, we can reduce weight and space requirements. We customize motor power, mechanical configuration, impeller diameter, and shaft length based on the mud tank and maximum mud specific gravity. Available powers are: 5.5, 7.5, 11, 15, 18.5, 22.

Mud agitator design concept

Mud Agitators offer rugged reliability and the flexibility to meet your specific needs. Design features include a rugged cast iron gearbox housing. This housing contains helical bevel gears. These gears run smoother and more efficiently than standard worm gears. They also offer a longer lifespan. The unit has a unique agitator bar configuration. This allows for maintenance from the top of the mud tank. This eliminates the need for in-tank inspections. The lower bearing seal is specially arranged. It maintains a grease pocket. This pocket is replenished by four rings. This ensures the gears are always immersed in uncontaminated lubricant. Our unique couplings are the toughest and most reliable in the industry. Available in vertical and horizontal configurations, with a choice of carbon steel or stainless steel pitch or hydrofoil impellers.

The mud agitator features a rugged cast iron gearbox containing helical gears. We precision grind the gear sets to prevent even the slightest backlash. This feature extends service life by eliminating the high shock forces the unit generates when it powers on at startup. Each helical bevel gear stage has an efficiency of 98%. A typical worm gear set is only 85% efficient because it loses most of its efficiency through heat generation.

The mud agitator features a circular arc cylindrical worm worm gear reducer with a circular arc cylindrical worm shaft section and conjugate circle worm gear teeth. Therefore, the concave and convex teeth have reliable performance, high efficiency, compact structure, high stirring intensity and wide stirring range.
