Applications of Vacuum Tank Degasser

Working Principle of Vacuum Tank Degasser

The Vacuum Degasser operates by utilizing the suction effect of a vacuum pump to create a negative-pressure zone inside the vacuum chamber.

Under atmospheric pressure, drilling mud enters the hollow shaft of the rotor through the suction pipe. The openings around the hollow shaft then discharge the mud and spray it onto the inner wall of the tank. The impact force and the action of the separation wheel disperse the drilling fluid into thin layers.

As the mud spreads into thin films, the process breaks and releases the entrained gas bubbles. The vacuum pump extracts the liberated gas, and the gas-water separator separates it. The separator’s vent line then safely discharges the gas, while the impeller expels the degassed drilling fluid from the tank.

Since the main motor starts first and drives the impeller at high speed, drilling fluid can only enter the tank through the suction pipe and the system cannot draw it back through the discharge outlet.
