Deep Water Well Mud Solids Control System

1. Product Overview

Crews typically drill deep water wells to depths of 20 to 300 meters. Drawing on years of experience in designing and manufacturing drilling solids control systems, HL Petroleum offers a water well drilling solids control system that works with small water well drilling rigs.

Deep-well drilling

The system integrates mud separation, mud mixing, and circulation storage in one unit. It is compact and has a small footprint. Operators can start and stop it by remote control, and crews can quickly assemble and disassemble it for convenient transport. This makes it especially suitable for water well drilling in the field, in remote areas, and at widely scattered job sites.

HL Petroleum supplies a range of deep water well mud solids control systems with processing capacities from 20 m³/h to 150 m³/h. Customers can flexibly select the configuration according to drilling depth, hole diameter, formation conditions, and site requirements.

2. System Composition

The Deep Water Well Mud Solids Control System consists of two main parts, the mud separation system and the mixing and circulation tank, along with a built-in generator system.

1. Mud Separation System

This is the core processing unit of the system, and it sits on top of the mixing and circulation tank. It efficiently separates solid particles such as sand, silt, and cuttings from the mud returning from the borehole. The unit discharges the separated solids promptly, restoring the mud’s properties so you can reuse it.

2. Mixing and Circulation Tank

This tank stores the mud after the separation system has cleaned it, and it handles mud mixing, agitation, and circulation. It supplies the rig with high-quality mud of stable properties at all times, keeping drilling continuous.

3. Generator System

The system comes with its own generator set, which provides stable power to the entire system in field environments without grid electricity. It operates independently, regardless of local power supply conditions.

3. Working Principle

During drilling, the mud carries cuttings from the bottom of the hole back to the surface and into the mud separation system. The separation system divides the harmful solids, such as sand and silt, from the liquid through screening, centrifugal separation, and similar methods. The cleaned mud then flows into the mixing and circulation tank, where the system agitates and conditions it before the mud pump sends it back into the drill pipe and down to the bottom of the hole. This forms a closed loop of “drilling, return, cleaning, recirculation.”

4. Product Features

  • Excellent separation performance: The system effectively removes sand and silt from the mud, reduces solids content, keeps mud properties stable, and improves drilling efficiency.
  • Extended equipment life: Cleaned mud is far less abrasive, which reduces wear on mud pumps, drill pipes, bits, and other components, extends the service life of the rig and its parts, and lowers operating costs.
  • Compact structure, small footprint: We mount the mud separation system directly on the mixing and circulation tank. The layout is efficient and saves space, making it suitable for sites with limited working area.
  • Remote control, easy operation: Operators can start and stop the mud separation system remotely, so they do not need to stay close to the equipment, which makes operation safer and less labor-intensive.
  • Quick assembly, easy transport: The modular design lets crews assemble and disassemble the system rapidly, making relocation and long-distance transport easy and suiting multi-site mobile operations.
  • Built-in power, suited to field work: The onboard generator system removes the need for external power, so the system runs normally even in remote areas without electricity.
  • Wide capacity range: Multiple models from 20 m³/h to 150 m³/h match different small water well rigs.
  • Energy saving and environmentally friendly: The system recycles mud, which reduces mud discharge and water consumption and lessens the impact on the surrounding environment.
